Magma: the limited edition lamp

Magma comes in four variants to choose from: pyro. tephra. caldera. ash.

 
Each is a curated combination of diffusers and bases to reflect the different textures and temperatures of volcano flow, varying from the cool ‘ash’ to the warm ‘pyro’.

A total of 60 lamps will be made, 15 of each variant.

All magma lamps start as waste materials.



This is to minimise their impact on the enviroment and create something positive from otherwise damaging industries.

These form the Synoma proprietary concrete, for the lamp bases and thebioplastic for the  3D printed layered diffusers.

Can a piece of homeware embody rare, natural phenomena like sunsets, or volcanos?


Magma is an artwork, turned product design, that seeks to answer this question, whilst also addressing the abundance of waste in the architecture and design industries. Using digital design, fabrication and waste materials, the Magma lamp was born.
